Certificate II in Automotive Vocational Preparation (Motorbody Stream)

Pre-apprenticeship Description

This course provides the knowledge and skills enabling graduates to specialise in: Paint Preparation - in preparation for painting there are masking procedures, preparing spray painting materials and equipment, carrying out minor paint repairs and, buffing and preparing for customer use. Panel Preparation - under the supervision of a tradesperson assisting with motor vehicle body repairs. Vehicle Presentation - in a car yard, garage or detailing workshop washing, scrubbing and polishing the interior and exterior of cars, buses and trucks to clean and protect the appearance of vehicles and components.

Eligibility Requirements

Automotive students are expected to: a) follow Occupational Health & Safety practices b) read and understand theory materials c) answer short answer questions d) deal easily with maths (eg basic timetables, conversions, volumes, transpositions of formula, use of calculators) e) answer computer testing Support is available to help students who may have difficulty meeting the above requirements. Some of these skills may be improved through the learning process.
