Swimming Pool and Spa Maintenance Technician

Working as a Swimming Pool and Spa Maintenance Technician you would chemically treat pools and spas to ensure the water is safe and clean. You may also maintain and service pumps, filters, heaters and other related equipment.

Core Units - 12 required

  • Organise personal work priorities and development
  • Complete client documentation
  • Prepare for professional practice in real estate
  • Handle, transport and store swimming pool and spa chemicals safely
  • Perform basic swimming pool and spa measurements and calculations
  • Maintain swimming pools and spas
  • Maintain swimming pool and spa water circulation and filtration systems
  • Maintain swimming pool and spa dosing systems
  • Maintain swimming pool and spa cleaning and vacuuming systems
  • Work in the swimming pool and spa servicing industry
  • Test pool water quality
  • Develop and implement pool water maintenance procedures

Elective Units - 6 required

  • Apply WHS requirements, policies and procedures in the construction industry
  • Maintain swimming pool and spa heating systems
  • Maintain swimming pool and spa stock
  • Sell swimming pool and spa products and services
  • Use and maintain business technology related to swimming pool and spa servicing
  • Access and apply information from swimming pool and spa technical manuals
