IT Administrator

IT Administrators coordinate and administer, as independent information and communications technology (ICT) specialists or as part of a team the installation, commissioning and ongoing maintenance of a range of networks, enterprise servers and systems, including internetworking, security and e-business solutions.

Summary of Training

CORE UNITS (12 required)

  • Configure, verify and troubleshoot WAN links and IP services in a medium enterprise network
  • Install, operate and troubleshoot medium enterprise routers
  • Install, operate and troubleshoot medium enterprise switches
  • Design and implement a security perimeter for ICT networks
  • Install and manage complex ICT networks
  • Plan, configure and test advanced server based security
  • Design and implement wireless network security
  • Manage ICT project systems implementation
  • Plan and direct complex ICT projects
  • Apply intermediate object-oriented language skills
  • Build a dynamic website
  • Create dynamic web pages

ELECTIVE UNITS (6 required)

  • Integrate database with a website
  • Lead the evaluation and implementation of current industry specific technologies
  • Design and implement an integrated server solution
  • Design, build and test a network server
  • Plan, configure and test advanced internetwork routing solutions
  • Use network tools
