Energy Efficiency and Sustainability Assessor

Working as an Energy Efficiency and Sustainability Assessor you will assess thermal performance and energy sustainability of residential properties. You may work with enterprises, government agencies, industry regulatory bodies, community organisations, building designers, architects and other building professionals.

Summary of Training

Core Units – 4 required

  • Identify risk and apply risk management processes
  • Manage own work, professional development and ethical behaviour
  • Research and assess impact of building elements on thermal performance of residential buildings
  • Advise clients on thermal performance of residential buildings

Elective Units – 11 required

  • Read plans, drawings and specifications for residential buildings
  • Operate and maintain computer system to support thermal performance assessments
  • Conduct thermal performance assessment of residential buildings
  • Conduct thermal performance assessment of complex residential buildings
  • Implement safe work practices in the property industry
  • Assess household energy use and efficiency improvements
  • Assess household water use and efficiency improvements
  • Assess thermal performance of residential buildings using non-rating tools and techniques
  • Participate in a quality audit
  • Implement and monitor environmentally sustainable work practices
  • Write complex documents
