Digital Reception Technician

Working as a Digital Reception Technician you will install a limited range of digital reception equipment for either a customer or an enterprise. You may undertake fault-finding on a range of digital reception equipment for Subscription TV and Free-to-air TV reception.

Summary of Training

Core Units – 6 required

  • Use hand and power tools
  • Use electrical skills when working with telecommunications networks
  • Determine and apply technologies within a telecommunications system
  • Locate, identify and rectify telecommunications network faults
  • Follow work health and safety and environmental policy and procedures
  • Provide customer service to telecommunications customers

Elective Units – 10 required

  • Install digital reception equipment
  • Install a complex digital reception system
  • Develop integrated digital reception systems
  • Integrate customer digital reception equipment
  • Integrate data delivery modes
  • Conduct radio frequency measurements
  • Install, maintain and modify customer premises communications cabling: ACMA Restricted Rule
  • Install, maintain and modify customer premises communications cabling: ACMA Open Rule
  • Install and configure internet protocol TV in a home network
  • Install telecommunications network equipment
