Beauty Therapist

Working as a Beauty Therapist you will perform all classic beauty treatments including facials, massage, nails, tanning and waxing. You will work with clients to understand their needs, develop treatment plans and recommend aftercare and extra services.

Summary of Training

Core Units – 18 required

  • Apply cosmetic tanning products
  • Provide body massages
  • Provide lash and brow services
  • Provide facial treatments and skin care recommendations
  • Provide waxing services
  • Design and apply make-up
  • Provide manicure and pedicare services
  • Use electric file equipment for nail services
  • Research and apply beauty industry information
  • Incorporate knowledge of skin structure and functions into beauty therapy
  • Incorporate knowledge of body structures and functions into beauty therapy
  • Promote healthy nutritional options in a beauty therapy context
  • Conduct salon financial transactions
  • Provide salon services to clients
  • Comply with organisational requirements within a personal services environment
  • Apply safe hygiene, health and work practices
  • Maintain ethical and professional standards when using social media and online platforms
  • Sell to the retail customer

Elective Units – 5 required

  • Maintain infection prevention for skin penetration treatments
  • Provide specialised facial treatments
  • Apply eyelash extensions             
  • Apply gel and dip powder nail enhancements      
  • Use social media and online tools
