Essential Services Water Officer

Working as an Essential Services Water Officer you will work in very remote locations to provide a safe supply of water and sewerage services to the community. You will repair and maintain water reticulation, storage tank, bores, pumping equipment and treatment plant.

Summary of Training

  • Apply work health and safety regulations, codes and practices in the workplace
  • Fabricate, assemble and dismantle utilities industry components
  • Solve problems in multiple path circuits
  • Solve problems in single path circuits
  • Use drawings, diagrams, schedules, standards, codes and specifications
  • Conduct periodic maintenance of remote area power supply generator sets
  • Maintain and repair remote area power generation facilities
  • Maintain safety and tidiness of remote area power supply systems
  • Work safely with remote area power supply systems
  • Maintain operation of remote area power generation plant
  • Apply environmental requirements
  • Operate plant and equipment in the vicinity of live electrical apparatus
  • Work safely in the vicinity of live electrical apparatus
  • Maintain, test and verify power systems in a very remote community
  • Perform low voltage electricity network switching in a very remote community
  • Solve problems in electrical network apparatus in a very remote community        
  • Solve problems in low voltage electrical network circuits in a very remote community
  • Apply the risk management principles of the water industry standards, guidelines and legislation
  • Use maps, plans, drawings and details    
  • Monitor and operate pump stations
  • Control electrical risk on metallic pipes
  • Install metering equipment
  • Maintain and repair network assets for drinking water
  • Maintain and repair network assets for wastewater
