Armed Security Officer

Working as an Armed Security Officer you will monitor entrances and exists to prevent unlawful entry of people and vehicles. You will respond to any unusual or emergency situations following established procedures which may require an armed response.
Please Note:Must hold a current Security Officers licensing in the relevant jurisdiction. This qualification does not provide the required competencies for a security officer license. Learners who hold a security license may select units as part of this qualification required for additional licence endorsements in; Batons and handcuffs, Canine, Cash-in-transit, and Control room operations and Firearms.

• Control persons using empty hand techniques
• Plan provision of close protection services
• Prepare and present evidence in court
• Conduct security screening using hand-held metal detectors
• Provide Advanced First Aid
• Control security risk situations using firearms*

*A learner must have achieved at least one of the three units of competency listed below, or a firearms training course approved in the relevant jurisdiction:

• Carry, operate and maintain revolvers for security purposes
• Carry, operate and maintain semi-automatic pistols for security purposes
• Carry, operate and maintain shotguns for security purposes
