Fire Services Technician

Working as a Fire Services Technician you will inspect, conduct routine testing and maintenance of fire equipment such as fire extinguishers, hydrants, hose reels, fire doors and exit and emergency lighting.

Summary of Training

  • Deliver a service to customers
  • Plan and apply time management
  • Participate in workplace safety arrangements
  • Identify and report on types of installed fire safety equipment and systems
  • Demonstrate first attack firefighting equipment
  • Prepare for installation and servicing operations
  • Maintain quality of work and promote continuous improvement
  • Conduct routine inspection and testing of fire extinguishers and fire blankets
  • Inspect, test and maintain fire extinguishers
  • Inspect and test emergency and exit lighting systems
  • Identify, inspect and test fire and smoke doors
  • Identify, inspect and test passive fire and smoke containment products and systems
  • Conduct basic functional testing of water-based fire-suppression systems
