Coordinator Mental Health-Consumer Peer Work

Coordinators of  Mental Health-Consumer Peer Work are responsible for delivering services to people with mental health illnesses. In this role you would be involved in service delivery via direct client work and community development projects and you may supervise other staff and volunteers. Note: You will have lived experience of mental illness as either a consumer or carer. 

Summary of Training

  • Promote and facilitate self advocacy
  • Assess and promote social, emotional and physical wellbeing
  • Apply peer work practices in the mental health sector
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of mental health services for consumers and carers
  • Apply lived experience in mental health peer work
  • Participate in workplace health and safety
  • Work effectively in consumer mental health peer work
  • Facilitate the interests and rights of clients
  • Provide advocacy and representation services
  • Address the needs of people with chronic disease
  • Support independence and well being
  • Visit client residence
  • Support group activities
