Congratulations to all winners of the ACT Training Awards 2020.

The Australian Apprenticeship and Traineeship Information Service (AATIS) congratulates all winners of the ACT Training Awards 2020. As proud silver sponsors of last nights events, we would also like to thank Skills Canberra for hosting the virtual event and celebrating the hard work of all nominees, especially throughout the COVID-19 Pandemic.

“It’s been a tough year for many, and to be able to celebrate those who have worked hard and contributed to the VET sector is important now more than ever,” said Dr Peta Skujins, AATIS Director.

The Awards, held on September 10, 2020, was a virtual event and showcased the commitment, innovation and outstanding achievements of those involved in the ACT vocational education and training sector.

“It was fantastic to come together online and share in this event,” Peta said.

“As sponsors of the Medium Employer of the Year Award, we would like to extend a special congratulations to the winners, Woden Valley Childcare Centre.”

Chloe Handley, Events and Engagement Team Leader with Skills Canberra, extended her gratitude to all sponsor of the event.

“The ACT Training Awards celebrate the partnership and engagement between the vocational education and training (VET) sector, business, and the community towards improving the skills of Canberrans,” Chloe said.

“The Awards recognise students, teachers, training providers and employers who have achieved high quality training and learning. Skills Canberra would like to thank the Apprenticeships and Traineeships Information Service for its on-going support and sponsorship of the ACT Training Awards.”

Congratulations to all winners and nominees on your outstanding achievement. The full list of winners includes:

ACT Apprentice of the Year: Congratulations: Khye Bolin. His Cert III in Electronics and Communications has allowed him to combine a passion for IT with his education and hands-on work.

ACT Trainee of the Year: Clarisse Ambroise. As a trainee, Clarisse has developed her hospitality skills and has continued from a Certificate III into a Certificate IV.

ACT Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year:  Lisa Cherie Birnie. Lisa completed a Cert III in Government.

Australian School-based Apprentice of the Year: Sebastian Connor. Cert III in Commercial Cookery.

ACT VET Teacher/Trainer of the Year: Nicole Lewis.

ACT Large Employer of the Year: Communities@work! 

ACT Medium Employer of the Year: Woden Valley Child Care Centre

ACT Small Employer of the Year: Winner Eden Hair Energy

ACT Industry Collaboration Award: Ginninderry Construction Program.

John Scott Memorial Award: Michael Young

Norm Fisher Award: Andrew Forster
