New year calls for new opportunities

Now is the time!

The new financial year is upon us, and with a new year comes a bevy of new opportunities. In the months of July and August, you may notice a significant increase in the amount of apprenticeship and traineeship listings. This is no coincidence!

The new financial year marks a time of growth and change for many businesses, and this can often result in a growing workforce. During July and August, many larger scale organisations will advertise for a number of available positions. Some companies, such as BHP, Essential Energy and Rio Tinto, will take on up to 30 apprenticeships.

It is so important to be checking in on company websites and job listing pages such as www.seek.com.au and www.careerone.com.au. Many opportunities will also be shared in local news sources, so it is a great idea to set up a google alert for apprenticeships in your area! You can learn how to do this using this tutorial.

To get you started on the process, below are a few companies with current apprenticeship opportunities being advertised!

As well as these fantastic opportunities, it is wise to pay close attention to government initiatives and infrastructure announcements. The Victorian Government has recently committed to taking on up to 500 apprentices, as part of the Melbourne Metro Tunnel project.  The Melbourne Metro Tunnel project will create 5,000 jobs in total, addressing a skills shortage while also shaping the future of Victoria's capital. You can learn more about this in the Victorian Government's official media release.

It is a busy time of year, and these opportunities are sure to be snapped up quickly, so keep on your toes and stay alert! For more updates on apprenticeship and traineeship opportunities, follow the AATIS Facebook page.
