Victorian Government releases 2022/2023 State Budget

The Andrews Labor Government officially released the Victorian Budget 2022/2023 during the week. There are a number of announcements that will impact the vocational training and education sector.

As part of the Victorian Budget 2022/23, a $103.1 million package will boost real-life work experience opportunities for students, strengthen training opportunities to preserve Victoria’s Aboriginal heritage, and continue the Labor Government’s work to provide training options for more Victorians.

$3.4m Bowen TAFE upgrade bolsters agricultural training in North Queensland

North Queensland will become the heart of agriculture training with the first sod turned for a new $3.4 million Agriculture Centre of Excellence in Bowen.

Turning the first sod at the Bowen TAFE campus today, Minister for Employment and Small Business and Minister for Training and Skills Development, Di Farmer, said the state-of-the-art facility would train and prepare Queensland’s workforce for growth in the agriculture industry.

NCVER Data shows international VET students are experiencing improved job outcomes

NCVER recently released a statistical report detailing international VET qualification completer outcomes for 2021.

Most notably, a total of 75.5% of international onshore VET qualification completers were employed after training in mid-2021. This is an increase of 10.8% from the same period in 2020.

The report provides a summary of the outcomes of international students who completed their vocational education and training (VET) qualification in Australia in 2020. These students were surveyed as an additional component to the 2021 National Student Outcomes Survey.
