Industry-backed pilot program to boost civil construction skills in WA

A new Civil Construction Pilot Program is set to improve training and skills in civil construction industries in Western Australia.

The Western Australian Government has committed $13 billion to civil infrastructure projects over the next four years, which includes an investment to support civil construction apprenticeships and fund wage subsidies.

This change will result in the State's first cohort of civil construction apprentices, who will receive a trade certificate on completion of their Certificate III qualification.

Queensland Government invests in emerging industries

Queensland Government invests in emerging industries

The Queensland Government has announced a $15 million injection into training and skills in emerging and new industries.

The investment will focus on a Manufacturing Strategy consisting of a Manufacturing Skills Fund and a continued investment in a new Energy Strategy which includes an Electric Vehicle Skills Fund. Other industries to benefit from the funding include agricultural business and digital technologies.

The new VET Emerging Industries initiative is part of the $200 million Future Skills Fund.

NT Training Awards Now Open

NT Training Awards Now Open

The Northern Territory (NT) Training Awards 2022 are now officially open, with nominations being accepted until the end of April.

The NT Training Awards are the Department of Industry, Tourism and Trade's annual premier event recognising training excellence and achievements within the VET sector.

Award finalists will be announced in June, with the annual gala awards dinner to be held in September of this year.

Tasmanian Government extends Tax Rebate Scheme to 2024

The Tasmanian Government has extended the Payroll Tax Rebate Scheme to 30 June 2024.

The scheme is designed to provide tax relief to businesses that employ apprentices, trainees and youth employees. Each year, the scheme supports around 3,000 apprentices and trainees.

This announcement will support skills, create more jobs, and help more young Tasmanians into work.
