South Australian State Budget Revealed

The South Australian Government has officially released the SA State Budget. There are a number of announcements that will have an impact on the skills and training sector, as well as multiple funding commitments designed to bolster the workforce.

Key announcements include and additional $11.9 million investment into the skills and training system, and $6.7 million over two years invested in free or low-fee training places through the JobTrainer Aged Care Boost to support the aged care workforce.

Western Australian workforce strengthened by record enrolments in VET courses

Western Australia has experienced a record breaking surge in enrolments to VET courses. New data shows more than 150,000 publicly funded course enrolments were reported in 2021, which is an increase of 21% when compared to 2020.

The trend has continued into 2022, with a record breaking 10,000 apprenticeships and traineeships being reported in the first quarter.

NSW State Government announced commitment to fee-free training

An additional 70,000 people will receive fee-free training as part of a plan by the NSW Government to turbocharge the State’s skills-led recovery and help more people get the skills they need for the jobs they want.

Treasurer Matt Kean said the 2022-23 NSW Budget would invest $82.7 million over four years to continue accelerating the skills boom and helping to deliver the lowest statewide unemployment rate on record at 3.5 per cent.
