A team of researchers from Griffith University has engaged with Queensland high schools, students within them, their parents and also TAFE institutions, VET teachers, and students to identify ways in which young people make decisions about post-school pathways and how the status of vocational education and training (VET) influences that decision making. It is intended that the findings from this research will influence policy and practice within the Queensland education system.
At the workshop two broad questions will be addressed:
- What factors influence young people’s decisions about VET to prepare for future careers?
- How can the status of VET be enhanced to increase uptake by young people?
