These qualifications apply to aquatic search and rescue, community policing, emergency management, firefighting and state and territory emergency services areas of work.

‘Public Sector’ and ‘Local Government’ are associated industries.

Qualifications Summary

PUA20112 - Certificate II in Public Safety (Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community Policing)

Covers training in legislation, operational safety tactics, information systems and communications for those who work in policing in a local Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander community.

PUA20613 - Certificate II in Public Safety (Firefighting and Emergency Operations)

Training is suitable for a person wishing to work in Firefighting and Emergency Operations.

PUA20713 - Certificate II in Public Safety (Firefighting Operations)

This qualification covers entry level Firefighting Operations.

PUA21312 - Certificate II in Public Safety (SES)

Suitable for a person wishing to work as an SES operations volunteer. Training covers working in an emergency operation centre and in the field.

PUA30412 - Certificate III in Public Safety (SES Rescue)

Suitable for people who manage injuries at emergency incidents and provide emergency care.

PUA30512 - Certificate III in Public Safety (SES Operations)

This qualification is suitable for a person wishing to work for the SES in their operations department.

PUA30613 - Certificate III in Public Safety (Firefighting and Emergency Operations)

Training may cover firefighting and emergency operations, injury prevention and responding to urban or wildfires as well as leading a fire or rescue crew.

PUA30713 - Certificate III in Public Safety (Firefighting Operations)

This qualification covers Firefighting Operations.

PUA31312 - Certificate III in Public Safety (Aquatic Search and Rescue)

Appropriate for those working in a lifesaver, lifeguard, first responder or marine rescue role or with vocational experience in beach or marine safety and first responder roles.

PUA33012 - Certificate III in Public Safety (Emergency Communications Centre Operations)

Appropriate training for Emergency Communications Centre Operations.

PUA40212 - Certificate IV in Public Safety (SES Leadership)

Appropriate for a person wishing to work as a Leader and Manager within the SES. Trainees will be expected to lead, manage and develop teams and conduct briefings and debriefings.

PUA40313 - Certificate IV in Public Safety (Firefighting Supervision)

This qualification us suitable for those wishing to become a firefighting supervisor. Trainees will be expected to lead, manage and supervise a response in emergency situations.

PUA42712 - Certificate IV in Public Safety (Emergency Communications Centre Operations)

This Certificate covers training in Emergency Communications Centre Operations.

PUA50412 - Diploma of Public Safety (SES Operations Management)

Suitable for those who lead and manage SES operations including training/developing SES search and rescue teams and conducting briefings and debriefings.

PUA50513 - Diploma of Public Safety (Firefighting Management)

Suited to those who lead, manage and supervise firefighting teams and coordinate responses to emergency situations.

PUA60513 - Advanced Diploma of Public Safety (Firefighting Management)

Appropriate qualification for those who lead, manage and co-ordinate a firefighting organisation in a rural or an urban area.
