Work Type

Work Types are broad descriptions of 7 kinds of work environments.

  • Analytic or Scientific
  • Creative or Artistic
  • Helping or Advising
  • Nature or Recreation
  • Organising or Clerical
  • Persuading or Service
  • Practical or Mechanical

The idea here is that people can look at the categories and relate them to their own likes and dislikes and to their favourite activities and interests.

This is one way of helping people to start to think about career directions.

This approach is based on the use of these categories by ‘The Job Guide’, and will probably be most useful for students from Year 7 to Year 10.
